The parliamentary Economic Committee in Bulgaria has unanamously approved a proposed amendment to the Tobacco and Related Products Act submitted by Kostadin Angelov of the Bulgarian political party alliance GERB-SDS.
The bill would completely ban the supply, sale, distribution, and advertising of e-cigarettes and other nicotine products, regardless of whether they contain nicotine.
Additionally, a proposed amendment to the “Child Protection Act” further prohibits the provision and sale of products containing nicotine to children, such as nicotine pouches, snuff, chewing gum, etc., as well as energy drinks, media reports.
Angelov called on lawmakers to support the bill, believing that this will demonstrate the Bulgarian government’s determination to address youth nicotine use.
