Greentank Technologies named industry veteran Chris Gemmell as its new Chief Product & Innovation Officer (CPIO), a strategic hire aimed at accelerating the company’s growth in advanced aerosolization technologies, according to a release.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in product development, innovation, supply chain, and executive operations within consumer goods and nicotine sectors, Gemmell brings deep expertise to this key role. He began his career at Kellogg’s, where he spent 16 years mastering category expansion and technical growth strategies.

At British American Tobacco (BAT), he played a pivotal role in transforming innovation across the reduced-risk product portfolio—spanning vapor, heated tobacco, and oral nicotine products—holding executive leadership roles across Southern Europe, Mexico & Central America, Imperial Tobacco Canada, and the U.S. under Reynolds American.

Gemmell later served as President of the American Snuff Company, guiding BAT’s entrance into the nicotine pouch market. Most recently, he led an advisory firm focused on product commercialization and remains active on several corporate boards.

At Greentank, Gemmell will oversee Product, R&D, and Innovation teams. His mandate centers on four key priorities:

  1. Strengthening product innovation to deliver scalable, market-ready technology that enhances safety, performance, and user satisfaction.
  2. Enhancing product realization, streamlining the pipeline from concept to commercialization with manufacturing excellence.
  3. Improving speed-to-market, enabling faster deployment of category-defining products.
  4. Expanding global commercialization by scaling innovations internationally and aligning with regulatory standards.

Greentank’s CEO, Corey Koffler, said Gemmell brings “the rare combination of visionary thinking and operational execution,” underscoring his importance as the company seeks to expand applications of its Quantum Chip platform in aerosolization.

The Quantum Chip technology—a precision, ceramic, and HPHC‑free heating platform—has already made waves across nicotine, cannabis, wellness, and pharmaceutical verticals. It delivers clean vapor via precision heating and is central to Greentank’s harm‑reduction strategy.

Gemmell takes the reins at a pivotal moment. Greentank has garnered industry recognition, including the Golden Leaf “Most Promising Innovation” Award at the Global Tobacco and Nicotine Forum in 2024, in acknowledgement of its Quantum Chip-led advancements.

In May 2025, Greentank further expanded its reach through a U.S. distribution agreement with Greenlane Holdings, which now carries Greentank’s full line of cartridges and vaporizers—including those powered by Quantum Chip technology—under an established distribution network.
