Padilla Cigars will begin selling its premium cigars in Canada for the first time this spring, marking a significant expansion for the family-owned brand into an international retail market.

The company has partnered with Lindal Cigar Importers, Inc., which will handle distribution throughout Canada. Although the final product lineup has not yet been confirmed, Padilla founder Ernesto Padilla said discussions are ongoing and that Canada-specific releases are planned.

“We’re still finalizing which lines will ship, but I’m planning on some unique exclusives for Canada,” Padilla told halfwheel via email.

For the Padilla family, the Canadian launch carries personal and historical significance beyond commercial expansion. In a press release, Padilla said Canada played a pivotal role in his family’s history after his father fled Cuba.

“Canada holds a special place in our family’s history,” Padilla said. “It was the first country my father set foot in as a free man after years of imprisonment and house arrest in Cuba for speaking out against the dictatorship. With the support of Senator Ted Kennedy and the Canadian government, his path to freedom became possible, and that legacy has stayed with us.”

Padilla Cigars is known for its Nicaragua-focused production and portfolio of boutique and limited releases, often emphasizing small-batch manufacturing and traditional blending. The company has primarily focused on the U.S. market since its founding, making the Canadian rollout its first sustained international retail distribution effort.

Lindal Cigar Importers is an established player in the Canadian premium cigar market and currently distributes brands such as ADV & McKay Cigars Co., Domain Cigars, Raíces Cubanas, and West Tampa Tobacco Co. The addition of Padilla expands Lindal’s portfolio of Nicaragua-made and boutique-oriented brands.

Cigars are expected to arrive at Canadian retailers sometime in spring 2026, with additional details on specific lines, pricing, and availability to be announced closer to the launch.
