- Industry focus: Event highlights emerging markets, innovation and retail strategy
As the industry continues to evolve, InterTabac 2026 is sharpening its focus on the premium cigar segment and expanding both its programming and global reach.
Organizers said the 2026 edition will build on the growing importance of cigars at the show by combining deeper market insights, expanded networking opportunities, and new international partnerships to drive business development across the category.
At the center of that effort is the return of the Cigar Culture Summit, set for Sept. 14 ahead of the main trade show in Dortmund. Following its 2025 debut, the summit is being expanded with a broader network of sponsors and knowledge partners, including the European Cigar Manufacturers Association, International Tobacco Growers’ Association, and Premium Cigar Association.
The format is designed to move beyond traditional trade-show activity. Manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and industry strategists will use the platform to assess global trends, regulatory developments, and distribution strategies ahead of the commercial year.
The 2026 program will be organized around three core themes.
The first, “Emerging Markets & How to Enter Them,” will focus on expansion strategies and new regional opportunities. The second, “Innovation & Quality Leadership in Premium Cigars,” will examine how brands can evolve their portfolios while maintaining their identity. A third stream, tailored to German-speaking retailers, will address how specialty cigar and pipe shops can adapt to shifting market conditions.
Organizers said the goal is to provide actionable insights alongside traditional networking opportunities. That approach extends into the main event.
InterTabac will again feature its Cigar Blending Experience, with master blender Claudio Sgroi offering hands-on guidance to help retailers refine purchasing decisions and better understand product development.
The broader conference program will also emphasize regulation, sustainability, and market analysis—areas increasingly shaping the premium cigar landscape.
Beyond Dortmund, InterTabac is also expanding its global footprint. The show has entered into a new partnership with the Lagos Cigar Festival in Nigeria, marking its first formal collaboration with an African cigar event.
The festival, which debuted last year, is positioning itself as a gateway to the premium cigar category across the continent. “Our collaboration with InterTabac represents a powerful bridge between Africa and the international cigar community,” said festival co-founders Francis Omene and Nero Asibelua. “Together, we are building something truly historic, a platform that will redefine the premium cigar experience across the continent.”
The 2026 Lagos Cigar Festival is scheduled for Dec. 28–29, expanding the calendar of industry events beyond traditional European and U.S. markets.
