Habanos S.A. has appointed Alberto Donar Cruz Rojas as interim commercial vice president following the retirement of longtime executive Jorge Perez Martel.
The Havana-based global distributor of Cuban cigars announced the leadership change in a communication sent to international distributors this week.
According to Habanos, Donar “has built a distinguished career within Corporación Habanos, S.A.” The company highlighted Donar’s prior leadership roles, including sales administration director at Habanos and commercial director at Intertabak, the exclusive distributor of Habanos products in Switzerland.
The move temporarily fills one of the company’s most important commercial positions overseeing global premium cigar distribution and market operations. Perez Martel, who is retiring, had been a visible figure in Habanos’ international commercial strategy during a period of significant growth in worldwide premium cigar demand.
